With the Sweet 16 on the line, neither team was willing to give in.  No. 1 seed Wisconsin wasn’t able to pull away from the Ducks until late in this one, 72-65.  The Ducks gave the Badgers and Bo Ryan all they could handle. Frank Kaminsky did not steal the show, but he was able to tally 16 points.

Wichita St. is getting the game it has been waiting for.  Today, the Shockers will get their chance at Bill Self and the Jayhawks.  The two schools have not met since 1993 due to Kansas disagreeing to scheduling a game.  Kansas owns the all time series 12-2 and Kansas has won the last five meetings handedly.  Wichita’s last win came back in 1981.  The schools have not played a game that has been within 20 points since 1989.  The Jayhawks won the last meeting 103-54.  There’s no way on this earth this one gets that out of hand.

This match-up has some calling it the biggest basketball game in the history of the state.  Last year, the Shockers played in the best third-round game in the tournament.  We may be saying the same deal this year.

Preview: No. 7 Michigan St. vs. No. 2 Virginia

This game matches up two great coaches in Tom Izzo and Tony Bennett.  The ACC regular season champ, Virginia, was able to win its first game in the tournament after losing 2 of the last 3 games beforehand.  The final score of its victory over Belmont may have been by 12, but the lead was only 2 with less than five minutes to play.  Virginia can’t let up runs to Michigan St. like it did to Belmont or the Cavaliers will be heading back to Charlottesville.

Michigan St. has come on strong lately and made it to the Big Ten championship, only to lose to Wisconsin in overtime.  The Spartans have played in seven overtime games over the span of the season.  Tom Izzo has his team coming together at the right time as they look to be this year’s 7 seed to cut down the nets at the end of it all.  The Spartans were able to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 70-63 in second round action on Friday.

The game tips at 12:10 ET on CBS.
