Sweet 16 Preview: Wichita St. vs. Notre Dame

Last weekend, Wichita State tipped off against Kansas in a highly-anticipated game. When the buzzer sounded, Fred VanVleet and the Shockers were flawless in victory over the Jayhawks.

Meanwhile, Butler took the Irish into overtime and if it wasn’t for Pat Connaughton’s block at the end of regulation, the Irish would be back in South Bend.

On Thursday night, the two teams will face off for a chance to advance.

Preview: No. 6 Butler vs. No. 3 Notre Dame

This third-round match-up pits two Indiana schools separated by just 150 miles. The winner claims a spot in the Sweet 16 and the pride of being the last Indiana team to be alive in the tourney. Notre Dame holds a 71-69 all time series lead, but the Bulldogs have won the last six meetings.  Notre Dame’s last win against Butler came in 1989. Instant Analysis: No. 3 Notre Dame escapes

Nothing like a little scare to get the tournament underway … unless you’re a Notre Dame fan, that is. With a 14-7 run as the clock ticked away, Northeastern had a chance to either tie or take the lead with less than a minute to play. But Notre Dame’s Jerian Grant tied up Northeastern’s Quincy Ford to force a turnover and seal a 69-65 win for the Irish.

The game was close throughout. Northeastern trailed by just four at the half in its first tournament appearance since 1991.
