One 14-seed upset was so much fun … why not have another? While Georgia State may not have very many NCAA Tournament appearances under its belt, its roster does have big-time experience … and that experience showed as R.J. Hunter hit a giant 3-pointer with 3 seconds left to lift the Panthers to a stunning 57-56 win over Baylor.
Impact Player and Turning Point
Stop me if you’ve heard this one – but the only choice for this game is Hunter. In addition to the game-winning 3-pointer, Hunter put Georgia State on his shoulders with 2:39 left to play in the game, scoring 9 unanswered points himself. He finished with 16 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Strange, But True
Hunter’s big shot at the end of the game wasn’t the only buzzer-beater in this one. Baylor’s Taurean Prince hit one of his own at the close of the first half to give the Bears a 3-point lead.
