Instant Analysis: No. 5 UNI’s bench comes up big

With no surprise, Northern Iowa beats Wyoming and advances to the third round of the tournament. Northern Iowa started out strong and led the entire game even though Wyoming had a very impressive run in the second half. The Cowboys still fell short by a final score of 71–54. UNI will go on to play the winner of UC Irvine and Louisville.

Impact Player

Paul Jesperson came off the bench and was an impact almost immediately. The junior guard racked up 16 points and tallied 4 rebounds. This is a season high for Jesperson.

Strange, Yet True

Northern Iowa had three players off the bench in double digits. The entire UNI bench outscored Wyoming’s 37–2 throughout the entire game.

Northern Iowa will play the winner of the Louisville and UC-Irvine game which plays later today.
