If you were trying to catch your breath from the last 10 hours of basketball, Utah and Stephen F. Austin didn’t do you any favors as their matchup came down to the final minute. The Lumberjacks of SFA were just a few jumpers going in and out from upsetting the Utes, but ultimately fell, 57-50. This would have been the perfect 12-five seed upset that we are all looking for as soon as brackets are revealed, but the Utes stout defense held SFA’s high scoring offense to almost 30 points below their season average.

If there was a snoozer on Thursday, this one was it. (Sorry, Lafayette.) Villanova, the top seed in the East region, rolled to a 93-52 win over the undermatched Leopards. The 41-point loss for Lafayette was the worst loss in NCAA Tournament history for a team from the Patriot League. Villanova never trailed in the game.

With all of the craziness early in the day, leave it to Arizona to restore some normalcy to everyone’s bracket. The No. 2 seed in the West cruised to a 93-72 win over an overmatched Texas Southern team.
