On to the next three wacky methods of picking a bracket. This time, the Dorm Room Hoops staff rated the schools in the tournament based on things they’re either really, really good at … or really, really bad at. Methodology this time? Best football team, worst graduation rate, and best basketball player in team history. (That last method led to a whole lot of debate in the newsroom.)

Wacky Brackets: Let’s Play Games

Sitting around and picking brackets can be kind of boring … so if you can add some activity to the process, that can make it a bit more enjoyable. So, we picked three brackets that involved some sort of activity. One bracket was picked by an epic game of rock, paper, scissors. Another bracket was picked by coin flip – and came out remarkably decent. And the last bracket was picked by a game of trash can basketball … which seemed to never end. Next time, we’re picking better shooters.
Wacky Brackets: Colors, Mascots, Uniforms
How many different methods are there of picking a bracket? A lot. Some require statistical analysis and research and others … well, those are the ones we decided to dig into this week. We spent two hours picking brackets in as many random ways as possible, most of which required no basketball knowledge whatsoever. Our first three wacky brackets were picked by best uniforms and best school colors, which are obviously quite subjective. We also got into the age-old method of picking a bracket by the mascot that would win in a fight.
